Clinton Volleyball Flies Past JWU 3-0

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Clinton College volleyball team rolled to an easy 3-0 win over USCAA foe Johnson & Wales University on the road Monday evening in Charlotte.

Clinton domainted the first set winning 25-10 on 7 kills before hitting .500 in the second set with 14 kills and only one error to win 25-18. The Bears then took the third set 25-15 behind 13 kills and only 2 errors to again hit .500. CC totaled 34 kills in the match hitting .403 while JWU only had 22 kills.

Senior middle Alexia Cunningham led with 8 kills and only one error hitting .700 with a dig and a block while fellow middle, sophomore Monica Burns, posted 4 kills and no errors with 4 blocks, an ace, and an assist.

Outside hitters Sierra Smith and Amoni Washington also played well with Smith tallying six kills, six digs, a block and three aces while Washington had 7 kills and hit .636. Sophomore setter Sierra Faulkner then posted 18 assists, four kills, 3 blocks and an ace. Freshman libero Charla White then had 7 digs with 3 assists, and 3 aces while setter Ashlyn Knight recorded 8 assists, 8 digs and an ace. DS Maria Colon also had 5 kills.

 

 

Clinton improves to 8-6 overall and is now ranked #10 in the NCCAA. They will next be in action Wednesday when they host Sweet Briar College at 4:00 pm.
