Faulkner's triple double Leads Clinton Volleyball to 3-2 win over Albany State

WEST POINT, Ga. - The 10th ranked Clinton College volleyball team held off the Div. II Albany State University Rams 3-2 in a thrilling five set neutral site match on Friday in West Point, GA.

Clinton won the first set 25-21 on 17 kills hitting .316 before ASU came back to take the second set 25-18. Clinton notched 18 kills on just 3 errors in the third set to win 25-20 while hitting .429. The Rams then dominated the fourth set 25-16 before a competitive fifth set saw the Bears come out victorious 15-12. Clinton totaled more kills than ASU, 59-48.

Sophomore setter/outside hitter Sierra Faulkner set a new Clinton record by recording her first career triple-double of 21 kills, 24 assists and 10 digs. She hit .302 and had two block assists while sophomore middle blocker Monica Burns posted 10 kills and hit .600 with 5 blocks and an assist.

Senior RS Doris Rodrigo also tallied 11 kills while freshman setter Ashlyn Knight posted 18 assists with 9 digs and an ace. Freshman libero Charla White and DS Camille Newton also combined for 17 digs, 7 assists and three aces from Newton. Senior OH Sierra Smith finished with 4 kills, 5 dgis, 2 blocks and an ace while freshman MB Chelsie Bell and senior OH Amoni Washington combined for 9 kills and 3 digs with a block from Bell and an ace from Washington.

The bears now improve to 17-8 overall and will next complete their regular season with a match at Div. II Johnson C. Smith Thursday at 6PM in Charlotte. The Golden Bears will then prepare for the South Region Tournament on Nov. 21-22 at Carolina University.
