Jamir Cheek – Head Men’s Basketball Coach, Clinton College

Entering his second season as Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Clinton College, Jamir Cheek continues to build a culture centered on competitive excellence, academic achievement, and student-athlete development.
Cheek began his coaching tenure at Clinton College during the 2022–23 season as an assistant coach, helping guide the Golden Bears to an outstanding 23–3 record. The team finished as South Regional Runner-Up and advanced to the National Championship game, earning a National Runner-Up finish while establishing itself among the nation's top programs.
In 2023–24, Cheek returned to Clinton College as Associate Head Coach, where he played a vital role in leading the Golden Bears to 18 wins, a South Regional Championship, and a fourth-place finish at the national tournament. His leadership and commitment to player development helped elevate the program's competitive success and national visibility.
During the 2024–25 season, Cheek joined Tuskegee University as an assistant coach, where he helped guide the Golden Tigers to a runner-up finish in the SIAC Championship Game. He also helped the program earn a marquee victory over Morehouse College during the NBA All-Star Weekend Basketball Classic, further showcasing his ability to contribute to winning programs at a high level. Throughout his time at Tuskegee, Cheek left a lasting imprint on the program through his work ethic, player development, recruiting efforts, and commitment to building a championship culture.
In his first season as head coach at Clinton College, Cheek led the Golden Bears to 18 victories and a perfect 12–0 record at home. Under his direction, the program earned a national tournament berth as the No. 6 seed, continuing the school's tradition of postseason success.
Cheek's impact extended beyond the court, as his team posted a 3.14 GPA during the fall semester and a 3.06 GPA during the spring semester. The Golden Bears also produced two All-Conference selections in Jordan Snipes-Campbell and Isaiah Borders. Additionally, two student-athletes graduated under his leadership, reflecting his commitment to academic success and preparing players for life beyond basketball.
A former collegiate guard at Wiley University, Cheek has established himself as a rising coach known for developing talent, cultivating strong team culture, and emphasizing excellence in the classroom and the community. As he enters his second season leading the Golden Bears, he remains committed to advancing the program's championship aspirations while developing well-rounded student-athletes prepared for success beyond the game.
